UPPSC Answer Key: Official PCS Key, Score and Objections

Updates · General Studies

Find the UPPSC answer key for PCS Prelims, match the correct paper and booklet, estimate your marks, and submit a supported objection before the deadline.

The UPPSC answer key is useful only when you’ve matched it to the right examination, paper and question-booklet series. A mismatch can make a sound attempt look disastrous, especially when the same questions appear in a different order. Start with the Commission’s notice for your exact PCS cycle, then compare your responses against that series.

For the 2025 Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) Preliminary Examination, UPPSC’s question-paper archive lists both General Studies-I and General Studies-II. Those are question papers, not answer keys. The key and any objection instructions belong to the Commission’s answer-key or notice area, and a coaching institute’s PDF remains unofficial even when its answers look convincing.

The 2026 PCS Prelims answer key isn’t available yet: the examination is scheduled for December 2026 in UPPSC’s calendar. A page promising a 2026 official key before the examination is offering a prediction or an unrelated file. Use the 2025 papers for practice while you wait for the current cycle’s notice.

Where can you download the official UPPSC answer key?

Use the UPPSC website and open the View Answer Key option in the Candidate’s Help Desk. If the menu takes you back to the homepage or an older key has expired, check the site’s notices for the full examination name and advertisement number. A disappeared download link doesn’t mean a third-party copy has become the official version.

  1. Confirm that the notice says Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) Preliminary Examination and names your exam year. UPPSC conducts several other examinations with their own answer keys.
  2. Open the PDF and identify General Studies-I or General Studies-II. Do not use a GS-I key for the qualifying paper.
  3. Match the booklet series, code or barcode range printed on your question booklet to the heading in the key. Use whatever identifier that particular notice specifies.
  4. Save the key and its accompanying notice together. The notice, rather than a generic guide, controls the objection method and deadline.

You can find the 2025 PCS Prelims GS-I and GS-II question papers in UPPSC’s previous-question-paper archive. Select 2025, then check the paper name before opening a file. The archive labels these entries separately, so it also helps when your own paper copy is missing.

Which key should you use: provisional or final?

Use the provisional answer key to check your attempt and identify questions that may need an objection. Use the final key or the Commission’s result for the settled outcome. A provisional key can change after representations are examined; a score calculated from it is an estimate.

The sequence is straightforward: UPPSC publishes a provisional key, gives a stated period and method for objections, examines admissible representations, and uses its settled answers in the result process. The exact dates and submission channel can vary by examination. Read the notice attached to your own key instead of relying on an older year’s deadline.

One more distinction matters. A question-paper PDF shows the options and their order. An answer-key PDF identifies the Commission’s chosen option. A scanned coaching solution may explain the question, but it cannot tell you what UPPSC finally accepted.

How do you calculate an estimated PCS Prelims score?

Count correct, incorrect and unattempted answers separately for each paper. The 2026 PCS advertisement available through UPPSC’s notifications specifies two 200-mark Prelims papers: 150 questions in Paper I and 100 questions in Paper II. It deducts one third of a question’s marks for an incorrect answer. Marking more than one option is treated as an incorrect answer; a blank answer attracts no penalty. Recheck the advertisement for your own cycle before using these numbers.

Use this worksheet after you’ve checked the current rules:

ItemWhat to record
Correct answersMatches with the official key for your booklet series
Incorrect answersAttempted questions that disagree with that key
UnattemptedQuestions left blank on the OMR sheet
Marks per correct answerValue specified for that paper in your advertisement
Deduction per wrong answerThe exact negative-marking rule in that advertisement

Estimated paper score = (correct answers x marks per correct answer) – (incorrect answers x deduction per wrong answer). Under the 2026 pattern, each Paper I question is worth 200/150, or about 1.333 marks, and its wrong-answer deduction is about 0.444 marks. If you marked 90 correctly, 30 incorrectly and left 30 blank, your Paper I estimate is (90 x 4/3) – (30 x 4/9) = 106.67 marks. Keep fractions until the final step to avoid rounding errors.

Keep the papers separate in your worksheet. Under the 2026 advertisement, Paper II has 100 questions for 200 marks, so a correct answer is worth 2 marks and a wrong answer loses 2/3 of a mark. Paper II is qualifying at 33%, and candidates must appear in both papers. Prelims merit is determined from Paper I marks. A strong Paper I estimate can’t compensate for missing a qualifying condition. Neither an estimated score nor a coaching cutoff prediction is a declaration of selection.

How do you challenge an answer in the provisional key?

Challenge a specific question and series, with evidence that can be checked. The Commission’s notice for that cycle decides whether representations go through a portal, by post or through another channel, and whether a particular format or fee applies. Don’t send an objection based on a process described in an old blog post.

For each disputed question, prepare:

Suppose the key marks option B, but a government report gives the figure in option C. State the report’s title, publication year, table and page; show how that figure answers the exact wording of the question. A screenshot of another institute’s key gives UPPSC little to verify. If the question asks for a fact as of a date, use a source valid on that date.

Submit within the notice’s window and keep the acknowledgement, receipt or dispatch proof. An objection is a request for review, not a guarantee that the answer will change. You don’t need to dispute every doubtful question; a few well-supported representations are more useful than a long list of guesses.

What should you do after checking the key?

Record three things while the paper is still fresh: questions you knew but marked incorrectly, questions where your knowledge was incomplete, and questions whose wording genuinely needs verification. That distinction makes the answer-key exercise useful even before a result arrives.

If your score is near a predicted cutoff, keep preparing according to your next-stage plan while UPPSC completes the result process. Predicted cutoffs depend on other candidates’ performance and the Commission’s decisions on disputed questions. Give the official result the final word.

For examination-specific changes, keep the UPPSC homepage as your first stop. It links to the Commission’s calendar, notifications and candidate help desk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the UPPSC PCS answer key the same as the question paper?

No. The question paper contains the questions and options; the answer key records the Commission’s answers. UPPSC lists previous question papers in a separate archive.

Can I use another booklet series to check my answers?

Only if you’ve mapped every question to its equivalent in your series. The safest method is to use the official section for your own booklet code or barcode range.

Is the provisional answer key my final score?

No. It supports an estimate. UPPSC may revise answers after reviewing objections, and the official result determines whether you qualify.

Can I object after the deadline?

Follow the deadline and method in the notice for your cycle. Don’t assume a late email, social-media post or grievance will be treated as an answer-key objection.

Is there an objection fee?

Check the current UPPSC notice. The fee and submission method shouldn’t be assumed from a different exam or year.

Where are the 2025 PCS Prelims question papers?

UPPSC’s previous-question-paper archive lists General Studies-I and General Studies-II separately under the 2025 Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) Preliminary Examination.
