What is Geospatial Data
Geospatial data (also called spatial data) is data that describes objects, events or phenomena with a location on or near the surface of the Earth. Every geospatial record has two parts:
- Attribute data — What it is: a road, a river, a farm, a mobile tower.
- Spatial data — Where it is: latitude, longitude, elevation.
The three foundational technologies are:
- Geographic Information System (GIS) — Software for storing, analysing and visualising spatial data.
