Ladli Laxmi Yojana: Benefits by Stage, Eligibility, How to Apply

Updates · General Studies

Ladli Laxmi Yojana MP explained: stage-wise benefits from ₹30,000 in savings to ₹1 lakh at age 21, eligibility, online application on ladlilaxmi.mp.gov.in.

Ladli Laxmi Yojana is Madhya Pradesh’s flagship scheme for girl children, running since 2007. The state invests in a registered girl’s name from early childhood and pays out at school milestones — ₹2,000 at Class 6, ₹4,000 at Class 9, ₹7,500 at Class 11 — with ₹1 lakh when she turns 21, provided she was not married before 18. Under the Ladli Laxmi 2.0 phase, a further ₹25,000 supports her graduation or professional course. Registration and certificate download happen on the official portal, ladlilaxmi.mp.gov.in. Here is the full benefit structure, eligibility, and application process.

What the scheme is for

Launched by the Madhya Pradesh government in 2007, Ladli Laxmi Yojana attacks two linked problems: the perception of a daughter as a financial burden, and girls dropping out of school. Instead of one lump sum, the scheme releases money at exactly the moments when families historically pull girls out — entry to middle school, secondary school, and higher secondary — and holds the largest payout until 21, conditioned on the girl not being married as a child. Several states later copied the design; Uttar Pradesh’s Kanya Sumangala Yojana follows a similar staged-payment logic.

Benefit structure by stage — verified amounts

Per the scheme’s official description (bhopal.nic.in, the district portal of the administering state, and ladlilaxmi.mp.gov.in):

StageBenefit
On registration (first 5 years)₹6,000 per year credited in the girl’s name for 5 years — ₹30,000 total assurance
Admission to Class 6₹2,000
Admission to Class 9₹4,000
Admission to Class 11₹7,500
During Classes 11 and 12₹200 per month while studying
Graduation / professional course (Ladli Laxmi 2.0)₹25,000 incentive for higher or professional education
Age 21 (final payment)₹1,00,000 — payable if the girl was not married before age 18

Counting the education instalments, monthly support, higher-education incentive, and the final ₹1 lakh, the scheme’s total value runs to roughly ₹1.43 lakh per girl. Payments go stage by stage against verified school enrolment — this is not a single deposit you can withdraw early.

Eligibility

A girl qualifies for registration if:

The disqualifier to remember sits at the end of the pipeline: marriage before 18 forfeits the final ₹1 lakh. The scheme also expects the girl to have appeared in her Class 12 examination for the final payout.

How to apply

Registration is normally done soon after birth, but eligible girls can be registered later within the scheme’s window.

  1. Go to ladlilaxmi.mp.gov.in and open the आवेदन (Application) section.
  2. Choose the applicant type — parent/guardian applying directly, or through an anganwadi worker or public-service centre.
  3. Fill the family details: parents’ names, residence, family-planning declaration where applicable.
  4. Fill the girl’s details: name, date of birth, anganwadi centre registration.
  5. Upload the documents (list below) and submit.
  6. The application goes to the local project office of the Women and Child Development Department for verification.
  7. On approval, the girl’s name enters the beneficiary register and the Ladli Laxmi certificate is issued.

Offline, the same application can be filed through your anganwadi centre or a Lok Seva Kendra — anganwadi workers routinely handle the registration paperwork for new parents, and there is no fee.

Documents needed

Certificate download and status check

The portal is self-service after registration:

If a record does not appear, the usual fix is at the local level — the anganwadi worker or the district Women and Child Development office can trace the application by the acknowledgement number.

Ladli Laxmi vs Ladli Behna: two different schemes

Madhya Pradesh runs two similarly named women-focused schemes, and they are constantly confused:

A family can benefit from both at once: a mother receiving Ladli Behna transfers while her daughter is registered under Ladli Laxmi. Applications, portals, and eligibility rules are entirely separate.

Parents planning long-term for a daughter often pair Ladli Laxmi with a market instrument as well — the central Sukanya Samriddhi account is the standard companion, since it is a savings product you fund yourself rather than a state benefit. Frequently Asked Questions

How much money does a girl get under Ladli Laxmi Yojana?

Across all stages, about ₹1.43 lakh: ₹30,000 assurance built over the first five years, ₹2,000 at Class 6, ₹4,000 at Class 9, ₹7,500 at Class 11, ₹200 per month through Classes 11–12, a ₹25,000 higher-education incentive under Ladli Laxmi 2.0, and ₹1 lakh at age 21.

Who is eligible for Ladli Laxmi Yojana?

Girls born after 1 January 2006 to Madhya Pradesh-resident, non-income-tax-paying parents, registered at an anganwadi centre. For a second daughter, the parents must have adopted family planning after two living children. Adopted daughters are eligible.

What happens if the girl marries before 18?

The final ₹1 lakh payment is forfeited. Delaying marriage past 18 is a core condition of the scheme, alongside appearing in the Class 12 examination.

How do I download the Ladli Laxmi certificate?

On ladlilaxmi.mp.gov.in, open the certificate section, search by the girl’s registration number or name and district, and download the PDF. The anganwadi centre can help if the record does not come up.

Is Ladli Laxmi Yojana the same as Ladli Behna Yojana?

No. Ladli Laxmi is a staged benefit for girl children from birth to age 21. Ladli Behna is a monthly cash transfer to eligible adult women. Both are Madhya Pradesh schemes but run separately.

Can a girl born outside Madhya Pradesh be registered?

The parents must be residents of Madhya Pradesh. Migrant families settled in MP should apply with their MP residence proof; the girl’s place of birth matters less than the family’s residency.

Is there any application fee?

No. Registration through the portal, anganwadi centre, or Lok Seva Kendra is free.
