OSSSC: Odisha’s District-Cadre Recruitment Portal, Login and Results

Updates · General Studies

OSSSC explained: the district-cadre recruitment commission of Odisha, its osssc.gov.in portal, login and registration, notices, results and helplines.

OSSSC, the Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission, is the Odisha government body that recruits for district-cadre Group C (and some Group B) civil posts, from junior clerks and revenue inspectors to amins, excise constables and radiographers. Its portal at osssc.gov.in is where you register, log in, apply, download admit cards and intimation letters, and read every advertisement, answer key and result. The Commission has worked from Bhubaneswar since it became functional on 1 November 2012.

Two mix-ups cost candidates time. The first is the name: OSSSC is not OSSC, the Odisha Staff Selection Commission, which runs separate examinations on its own website. The second is the word “result”: on OSSSC most published lists are provisional screening lists that call you to the next stage, and only the select list at the end sends your name to a department. This guide settles both and walks through the portal.

OSSSC at a Glance

OSSSC is a recruitment commission, not a service portal, so the facts that matter are its legal basis, its scope and how to reach it. Everything below comes from the Commission’s own pages.

What OSSSC Recruits For

OSSSC fills posts that are recruited district-wise, so a selected candidate is allotted to a district rather than to the state headquarters. The General Administration Department’s notification of 18 February 2013 handed the Commission recruitment to district-level Group C posts under 24 departments, and its scope page lists those posts department by department.

A few examples from that list show the range:

Many of these are grassroots revenue jobs. A Revenue Inspector or Amin works with the same land records and village maps that the state’s record-of-rights portal shows, and the wider system they serve is explained in land records management in India. The ICDS Supervisor posts that appear in recent combined examinations belong to the Integrated Child Development Services scheme.

The Commission groups several posts into one Combined Recruitment Examination (CRE), numbered by year and series, such as CRE-2023 (IV) or CRE-2025 (II). One advertisement and one set of stages then covers all the posts in that CRE.

OSSSC vs OSSC vs OPSC

Odisha has three recruitment bodies with similar names, and each runs its own portal. Applying on the wrong one is a common, avoidable mistake.

BodyWebsiteWhat it recruits for
OSSSC (Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission)osssc.gov.inDistrict-cadre Group C (and some Group B) posts
OSSC (Odisha Staff Selection Commission)ossc.gov.inIts own combined examinations, such as graduate, post-graduate and 10+2 level recruitment
OPSC (Odisha Public Service Commission)opsc.gov.inThe state civil services examination and other higher state posts

The quick test is the district: if the advertisement allots posts district by district, it’s OSSSC. For the state civil services, see the guides to OPSC and the Odisha Administrative Service. How district and state recruitment compare with the national route is set out in UPSC vs state PCS.

How to Register and Log In on osssc.gov.in

You need an account before you can apply. The portal’s home page carries a “Login” button and an “Apply Online” button at the top right, and new candidates reach registration through “Register Now” on the login screen.

  1. Open osssc.gov.in and read the advertisement for the post first. It sets the eligibility, the fee and the closing date.
  2. Click “Login”, then “Register Now”. Fill in the details the form asks for and note the registration number and username it generates.
  3. Set a password of 8 to 15 characters with at least one capital letter, one small letter and one digit. The login screen rejects anything else.
  4. To log in, enter your “Username / Registration No. / Mobile No. / Email”, then choose “Login using Password” or “Login using OTP”, fill the captcha (it’s case sensitive) and submit.
  5. Complete the application for the post, pay the applicable examination fee online and keep the final copy.
  6. To check what you submitted, use “View Registration Copy” under the Recruitment menu. It asks you to select the post and enter your phone number, email and date of birth.

Notices on the portal speak of “Registration / Re-registration” for each recruitment, and the registration copy is looked up post by post. So don’t assume an old account carries over to a new advertisement; read that advertisement’s instructions on whether you register afresh or re-register.

Two recovery links sit under the login box: “Reset Password” if you’ve forgotten it, and “Recover your User Account Details” if you’ve lost the username or registration number. Use the same mobile number and email throughout, because both are lookup keys.

Documents to keep ready

The advertisement for each post lists the exact documents, and that list is the one to follow. Collect them before you start the form so you aren’t hunting for a certificate with the closing date close. If the list asks for a category certificate you don’t have yet, the guides to the caste certificate and the EWS certificate explain what each proves; Odisha’s own issuing route is the e-District portal.

How OSSSC Publishes Notices and Results

Every OSSSC communication is a numbered notice, and learning to read the number saves panic. A typical title reads “Notification No. IIE-68/2026-2910/OSSSC dated 30.09.2026” followed by what it does. The home page shows the latest ten under “Recruitment News”, and “See More” opens the full list.

The Recruitment menu splits notices into four places:

A recruitment moves through stages, and the Results page names each one:

  1. Written test, sometimes in two parts (preliminary and main).
  2. Answer keys, with the option to view or download your response sheet.
  3. Provisional Screening List for the next stage: a physical test, a “Practical Skill Test in Basic Computer Skills”, or document verification.
  4. Counselling for choice of post or district, with a downloadable intimation letter.
  5. Provisional Result, then the select list and sponsoring of candidates to the departments.

For computer-based tests held over several shifts, the Commission publishes a normalization methodology under its Rules menu. Normalization adjusts raw marks so that a candidate who drew a harder shift isn’t penalised, which is why your normalized score can differ from the raw count on your response sheet.

The portal also hosts “Old Questions” under the Recruitment menu, the cheapest way to see the actual level and pattern before you start. General-studies preparation for these papers overlaps heavily with central staff selection exams such as SSC CGL.

Common Problems and Their Fixes

Most portal trouble falls into a few patterns, and the portal itself provides the fix for each.

Where to Complain or Get Help

The Commission lists separate contacts for separate problems. Technical problems with registration, login or payment go to 0674-2597149. Administrative questions go to 0674-2597106, between 10 AM and 5 PM on official days.

Grievances about the recruitment process go to the Secretary, OSSSC, whose office line the contact page lists as 0674-2597159, at Block No. 3 and 5, Unit-I, Bhubaneswar-751009. The portal also links the Commission’s RTI page and its citizen’s charter from the main menu. Keep your registration number and the notice number at hand whenever you call or write.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the full form of OSSSC?

OSSSC stands for Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission. It recruits for district-cadre Group C civil posts, and some Group B posts, under Odisha government departments. Its portal is osssc.gov.in.

Is OSSSC the same as OSSC?

No. OSSSC is the Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission at osssc.gov.in, which recruits district-cadre posts. OSSC is the Odisha Staff Selection Commission at ossc.gov.in, which runs its own separate examinations, so check which body issued the advertisement before applying.

How do I log in to the OSSSC portal?

Click ‘Login’ on osssc.gov.in and enter your username, registration number, mobile number or email. Choose to log in with your password or an OTP, fill the case-sensitive captcha and submit.

I forgot my OSSSC username or password. What should I do?

Use ‘Reset Password’ on the login screen for a forgotten password. For a lost username or registration number, use ‘Recover your User Account Details’ rather than creating a new account.

Where can I see OSSSC results?

Open the Results page under the Recruitment menu on osssc.gov.in. It lists provisional screening lists, provisional results and counselling notices, each as a numbered notification with its date.

Does registering on OSSSC once cover every recruitment?

Not necessarily. Notices speak of registration and re-registration for each recruitment, and the registration copy is looked up post by post. Follow the instructions in the advertisement for the post you want.

What is a provisional screening list in OSSSC?

It is a list of candidates called to the next stage, such as a physical test, a computer skill test or document verification. It is not a final selection. The select list and sponsoring to departments come only after the provisional result.

What is the OSSSC helpline number?

For technical help with registration, login or payment, call 0674-2597149. For administrative queries, call 0674-2597106 between 10 AM and 5 PM on official days.
