Significance
Industrial corridors are integrated, infrastructure-led development belts that link production centres to markets and ports through world-class trunk infrastructure. They matter because they lower India's high logistics cost (around 13-14% of GDP), attract large-scale domestic and foreign manufacturing investment, generate substantial employment, promote planned and balanced regional industrialisation, reduce import dependence, and advance the goal of raising manufacturing's share of GDP under Make in India. They also strengthen backward and forward linkages with agriculture and services and help India integrate into global value chains.
