Interview Guidance Programme · CSE Personality Test

The last 275 marks decide your rank and your service.

You have cleared the Mains. What is left is a twenty-five minute conversation with a board that has already read your DAF. The Interview Guidance Programme prepares you for that room — DAF deconstruction, subject-specific mocks, and full mock boards with retired civil servants, each one followed by written feedback.

What the programme covers

Six things the board will test, prepared one at a time.

The Personality Test is not a knowledge paper. It is an assessment of judgement, honesty and composure — and every one of those is trainable if someone tells you precisely where you are losing marks.

01

DAF deconstruction

Every line of your Detailed Application Form — home district, graduation subject, service preference, hobbies, work experience — turned into the questions a board can build from it. You leave knowing which entries you will be asked to defend.

02

Subject-specific mocks

Sessions with faculty from your graduation subject and your optional, because a board with a domain expert asks a different class of question than a generalist does.

03

Full mock boards

Panel sessions with retired civil servants — the format, the pressure and the follow-up chains of the real thing, not a friendly one-to-one chat.

04

Written feedback

After each session you get the assessment in writing, not a verbal “that was good”. Specific, attributable, and comparable across mocks so you can see movement.

05

Current affairs & state board

Your state, your district and the issues a board is likely to open with — prepared as positions you can defend, not facts you recite.

06

Presentation and poise

Body language, pace, how you handle a question you cannot answer, and how you disagree with a board member without losing the room.

How a cycle runs

DAF first. Then the board. Then it in writing.

A mock interview you cannot learn from is entertainment. The sequence below is what turns one into a diagnostic.

  1. 01

    DAF session first

Before any mock, we read the DAF with you and build the question map. Walking into a mock board without this wastes the mock.

  2. 02

    Mock board

A panel session in the real format. You are pushed on the weakest entries in your DAF, not the ones you rehearsed.

  3. 03

    Written assessment

What worked, what did not, and the specific habits costing you marks — in writing, from the panel.

  4. 04

    Correct and repeat

You fix the pattern, then sit the next board. Progress is measured against the previous written assessment, not against a feeling.

Who it’s for

Three situations, three different priorities.

Tell us which one you are in when you enquire — the plan for a first-timer three months out is not the plan for a repeat candidate with two weeks left.

Through to the Personality Test for the first time

You have never sat in front of a board and do not know what the room feels like. The priority is format exposure and DAF command before the date arrives.

A repeat interview

You have been here before and the marks did not move. The priority is finding the specific habit — over-long answers, hedging, defensive body language — that keeps repeating.

A low PT score last cycle

Your written papers carried you and the interview pulled you down. The priority is a hard diagnostic against a real panel, early enough to act on.

Who prepares you

Faculty who have sat on the other side of the table.

Retired bureaucrats, former interview panellists and subject veterans — the same people who teach the classroom batches, not a separate interview-season hire.

Request a slot

Tell us your interview date. We’ll tell you what is achievable.

Interview slots are scheduled around the UPSC calendar, so the honest answer to “what will I get?” depends on how much time is left. Send us your Mains year and your interview date if you have one, and we will come back with the schedule and the fee for your cycle.

  • Put in the enquiry boxYour Mains year, your optional, your graduation subject, and your interview date if it is out.
  • What comes backThe available slots, what fits before your date, and the fee — in writing, before you commit.

FAQ

Interview Guidance Programme — questions we get.

What is the Interview Guidance Programme?

It is the Anantam IAS programme for candidates who have cleared the UPSC Civil Services Mains and are preparing for the Personality Test. It combines DAF deconstruction, subject and optional-specific mock sessions, full mock boards with retired civil servants, and written feedback after each session.

Do I have to be an Anantam IAS student to join?

No. The Interview Guidance Programme is open to any candidate who has cleared the Mains, whether or not you prepared with us. Several of the rankers who credit the programme came to us only at the interview stage.

How many mock interviews will I get?

It depends on how much time is left between your Mains result and the interview date, and on what the first DAF session and mock board reveal. Tell us your interview date in the enquiry form and we will tell you exactly what we can fit in.

Who sits on the mock board?

Retired civil servants and senior faculty, including people who have sat on the other side of the table. The point of the panel format is that it is not a friendly conversation.

What does the programme cost?

The Interview Guidance Programme is not sold as a fixed online package, because what a candidate needs depends on their interview date and their DAF. Send an enquiry and we will confirm the fee and the schedule for your cycle before you commit to anything.

Is it available online, or only in Delhi?

Both. Mock boards run in person at our Old Rajinder Nagar centre and over video for candidates who cannot travel. The panel format and the written assessment are the same either way.

How many marks is the interview actually worth?

The Personality Test carries 275 marks against 1750 for the written Mains. In a compressed merit list those marks routinely decide both rank and service allocation — which is why the last stage deserves preparation rather than improvisation.

What if I only have two weeks left?

Say so in the enquiry. A compressed plan that front-loads the DAF session and one full board is far better than nothing, and we would rather tell you honestly what is achievable in the time you have.

One stage left

You cannot rewrite the Mains. You can still change the rank.

Send an enquiry with your interview date and we will tell you honestly what can be done in the time remaining — including if the answer is “not much”.
