UPSC Eligibility and Attempts Calculator

Check your UPSC age eligibility, attempt limit, attempts remaining and last ordinarily eligible examination year using the 2026 Civil Services notification rules.

Eligibility & AttemptsThe interactive form is loading. The guide below remains available if JavaScript is disabled.

UPSC eligibility calculator gives you a practical result before the explanation. Enter the inputs in the tool above, read the result, and use the next action to improve one preparation decision.

The form is free, requires no account, and keeps personal entries in your browser unless the page explicitly says it is reading the published Anantam IAS question bank.

How this tool works

The calculator checks your date of birth against the official 1 August cutoff for the selected examination year. It then applies the category age ceiling, one selected special relaxation and the attempt limit. The result separates age eligibility from attempt eligibility so you can see which rule controls the outcome.

What the result does not mean

It does not check nationality, degree completion, certificate validity or every combination of overlapping relaxation rules. Treat the answer as a screening result and verify it against the notification for the year in which you apply.

Source and verification

UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026, Notice No. 05/2026-CSE. Rules verified 26 July 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What date is used to calculate age for UPSC CSE 2026?

The 2026 notification calculates age on 1 August 2026. You must be at least 21 and must not have attained the applicable upper age.

Does filling the form count as an attempt?

No. An attempt is ordinarily counted when a candidate actually appears in at least one paper of the Preliminary Examination.

Can two age relaxations be added together?

Some concessions can overlap under specified conditions, but the notification wording controls the combination. This tool applies the one special relaxation selected and tells you to verify complex cases.
