What role does Electric Propulsion play in the modern Green Space Movement?

Electric (ion) propulsion uses solar-generated electricity to ionise a propellant and accelerate the ions to very high exhaust speeds. This delivers very high fuel efficiency, which makes it ideal for long-duration deep-space and station-keeping missions. It produces low thrust, so it can't be used for heavy-lift liftoff from Earth's surface.
