The MCA portal at mca.gov.in is where every company and LLP in India is incorporated, files its annual returns, and maintains its public record with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Since mid-2025 the portal runs entirely on the new V3 system — the old V2 login no longer handles any forms. To log in you need either a Registered User account (for browsing and public documents) or a Business User account (for actually filing), and filers must also associate a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) with their account.
What the MCA V3 Portal Is
MCA21 is the Ministry of Corporate Affairs’ e-governance platform. Its third version, V3, was rolled out in phases: LLP forms moved first in March 2022, company incorporation and routine forms followed in January 2023, and the final lot of 38 forms — including the annual filing forms AOC-4 (financial statements) and MGT-7 (annual return), plus audit and CSR forms — went live on V3 on 14 July 2025, per the MCA’s notices. That completed the migration; V2 is retired and every filing today happens through the V3 login.
The practical differences from the old system:
- Forms are web-based, filled online in the browser instead of downloaded PDFs; you save drafts to your account and sign at the end.
- Your login is tied to your email ID (and PAN), not a free-floating user ID.
- Payments, the “My Application” history, and DSC handling all live inside your account dashboard.
User Categories: Registered vs Business User
MCA V3 has two account types, and picking the wrong one is the most common source of confusion.

Business Users are further categorised at signup: company/LLP user, director/designated partner (DIN-based), professional (institute membership number), manager/secretary/authorised representative, or officer in default. A Registered User can upgrade to Business User later from the profile settings — you do not need a fresh account.
How to Sign Up
- Go to mca.gov.in and click Sign In / Sign Up (top right).
- Choose Register, then select the user category — Registered User or Business User (and the sub-category).
- Enter PAN (mandatory for Business Users), name, and contact details. Directors enter their DIN; professionals enter their institute membership number, which the portal verifies against ICAI/ICSI/ICMAI records.
- Verify email and mobile with OTPs.
- Set the password. Your email ID becomes your login ID.
If you had an old V2 account, its history does not block you — create/upgrade the V3 account with the same email so your records reconcile.
How to Log In
- Open mca.gov.in → Sign In / Sign Up.
- Enter your email ID and password (plus OTP where prompted).
- Use MCA Services for forms and DSC services, and My Application to resume saved drafts, download paid challans and track SRN status.
Forgotten passwords reset against your registered email/mobile OTP. Accounts lock after repeated failed attempts — reset rather than retry.
Associating Your DSC
Every form on V3 is signed with a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate, and the DSC must first be associated with your Business User account. Registered Users cannot associate a DSC.
- Plug in the DSC USB token and install its drivers.
- Install emBridge (and emSigner where prompted) — MCA’s signing utilities; the portal links the downloads.
- Log in → MCA Services → FO Services → Associate DSC.
- emBridge detects the token; select your certificate, enter the token PIN, and submit.
Re-associate whenever you renew the DSC. A mismatch between the PAN in the DSC and the PAN in your profile is the usual reason association fails.

Filing fees are paid online at submission, and each filing gets an SRN (Service Request Number) you can track under My Application. Late filings attract additional fees — ₹100 per day for AOC-4 and MGT-7 with no upper cap, which is why the October–November filing season matters.
Troubleshooting Login and Filing Issues
- “Please register as Business User” while opening a form — you are on a Registered User account; upgrade from your profile before filing.
- DSC not detected — restart emBridge, use an updated Chrome/Edge, and check the token drivers. Corporate networks sometimes block emBridge’s local port.
- OTP not received — the email/mobile on your profile may be stale; update it via profile settings first.
- SRN stuck “Pending for payment” — a failed payment usually cancels in a few hours; regenerate from My Application instead of filing afresh.
- Peak-day slowness — the portal is busiest near due dates; drafts save to your account, so fill early and sign later.
