SSO ID Rajasthan: Registration, Login and Recovering a Lost SSOID

SSO ID Rajasthan explained: the Jan Aadhaar and Google registration routes, login, SSOID and password recovery, the password rules and the apps behind RajSSO.

Illustration for the SSO ID Rajasthan guide on Anantam IAS

SSO ID Rajasthan is the single login the Rajasthan government gives citizens, businesses and its own employees for its online services. You create it once on the RajSSO portal at sso.rajasthan.gov.in, run by the state’s Department of Information Technology and Communication (DoIT&C), and then use the same username and password to apply for certificates through e-Mitra, update Jan Aadhaar, fill recruitment forms, lodge a Rajasthan Sampark complaint or pay a bill. On 3 November 2026 the portal’s own counter showed 3,44,79,308 identities.

The common mix-up is to treat the SSO ID as a document or a scheme. It is neither. It’s a username, called a Digital Identity on the portal, and it does nothing by itself; the work happens in the apps you open after login. The second mix-up is about type. A citizen SSO ID and a government employee SSO ID open different sets of apps, and older guides still describe Facebook, Twitter and Bhamashah sign-ups that the registration page no longer offers.

What the RajSSO Portal Does

RajSSO is a front door. It checks who you are and then hands you to whichever department app you choose, so you don’t keep a separate password for each one.

G2G means government-to-government: apps used by officials, such as IFMS for treasury work. G2C/G2B means government-to-citizen and government-to-business: the apps the public uses. The portal’s FAQ says a government SSO ID opens both sets, while a citizen SSO ID opens only the G2C apps.

The portal has grown in small steps. Its release notes show version 1.0 on 1 May 2015, which joined e-Mitra, RTI, Raj Sampark and a few other systems to one login. Jan Aadhaar based registration came on 24 December 2019. By 2 November 2026 the portal was at version 47.7, with new department apps added almost every week. It’s one of the clearer examples of the “one login, many services” idea discussed in the note on e-governance in India.

Which SSO ID You Need

The registration page opens on two tabs, and the right one depends on who you are, not on which service you want today.

  • Citizen/ Udhyog: for residents, students, job applicants, farmers and businesses. Under it sit two options, Jan Aadhaar and Google.
  • Govt. Employee: for serving Rajasthan government employees. The tab shows a single option, SIPF, the state’s insurance and provident fund system, and the FAQ says a government SSO ID is created with the employee ID.

Two rules from the portal’s FAQ shape the choice. An Aadhaar number, mobile number or email can sit in only one SSO ID, so a family can’t register two people on one phone number. And because a citizen ID can’t open G2G apps, an employee who registered years ago as a citizen should not expect to see office apps there.

The Jan Aadhaar route is marked “Only for Residents of Rajasthan State, India”. The Google route is marked “All Others (including above)”, which makes it the route for applicants from other states, such as candidates filling a Rajasthan recruitment form.

How to Register for an SSO ID with Jan Aadhaar

This is the route most Rajasthan families use, because the details come from the family’s Jan Aadhaar record. Keep the phone that is linked in Jan Aadhaar nearby. If you don’t have a Jan Aadhaar number yet, the Jan Aadhaar guide covers how a family enrols and downloads its e-card.

  1. Open the registration page at sso.rajasthan.gov.in/register.
  2. Keep the Citizen/ Udhyog tab selected.
  3. Click Jan Aadhaar under “Please select an option for Registration”.
  4. Type your number in the “JanAadhaar ID/ Enrolment No.” box and click Next.
  5. Verify with the OTP. If your own mobile number isn’t updated in Jan Aadhaar, the portal asks whether you want the OTP on the Head of Family’s mobile; choose Yes only if that phone is with you.
  6. Complete the remaining steps the portal shows, set a password that meets the policy below, and note the SSO ID it gives you.

The screens after the OTP aren’t public, so this guide doesn’t name their fields. Write the SSO ID down somewhere other than your phone. Most recovery trouble starts with a forgotten username, not a forgotten password.

How to Register with Google or as an Employee

The Google route suits anyone without a Rajasthan Jan Aadhaar, and it works for Rajasthan residents too. Click Google on the same registration screen and sign in with the Google account you want linked. Use a personal account you will still control in five years, since recovery later runs through the details tied to it.

State employees should click the Govt. Employee tab and then SIPF. The portal’s FAQ ties this identity to the employee ID. An employee who also has a citizen SSO ID keeps both, and should use the government one for office apps.

How to Log In to SSO ID Rajasthan

The login screen asks for three things, and the captcha trips up more people than the password does.

  1. Open sso.rajasthan.gov.in and click Login to RajSSO.
  2. Enter your SSO ID in “Digital Identity (SSOID/ Username)”.
  3. Enter your password.
  4. Type the 6-digit captcha. Use “Refresh Captcha” if it’s unreadable, or “Speak Captcha” to hear it.
  5. Click Login. The dashboard lists your apps; click one to open it without a second login.

Below the Login button sits a Meri Pehchaan button, which signs you in through the Government of India’s single sign-on instead of a RajSSO password. Use it only if your Meri Pehchaan account is already linked to your SSO ID.

Forgot SSO ID or Password

RajSSO keeps two separate recovery screens, and each has an SMS shortcut.

To recover a lost SSO ID:

  1. Click “I Forgot my Digital Identity (SSOID)” on the login page.
  2. Choose the tab you used when you registered: Citizen, Udhyog or Govt. Employee.
  3. Choose the method you registered with: Jan Aadhaar, Aadhaar or Google, and give the details asked.
  4. The SSO ID is sent to your registered mobile or email.

The SMS shortcut is faster. From your registered mobile, send RJ SSO to 9223166166.

To reset a password:

  1. Click “I Forgot my Password”.
  2. Enter your SSO ID, or your government email on mail.rajasthan.gov.in.
  3. Choose Mobile or Email (Personal), enter the registered mobile number, fill the captcha and continue.

The SMS route works here too: send RJ SSO PASSWORD to 9223166166 from your registered mobile. Both SMS services carry one condition on the portal: you must have logged in to SSO at least once since 7 September 2018. A very old, never-used ID has to go through the screens instead.

Password Rules and Account Lockout

RajSSO’s password policy, in force from 11 December 2025, is stricter than most people expect, and it explains many “my password stopped working” complaints.

  • Length of 8 to 30 characters, with an upper-case letter, a lower-case letter, a digit and a special character.
  • No mobile number, date of birth, family name or anything built from the SSO ID itself.
  • A forced change at least every 60 days.
  • None of your last five passwords can be reused.
  • Five wrong attempts in a row lock the account for 30 minutes, unless the RajSSO helpdesk resets it earlier.

The policy also recommends multi-factor authentication. The release notes show Aadhaar face authentication added to SSO’s MFA in March 2024 and a time-based OTP added for government users in May 2025.

Apps You Open Through SSO

Most people meet RajSSO because some other service sent them there. These are the ones readers ask about most, with the helpdesk each app lists on the portal.

App on SSOWho uses itWhat it doesHelpdesk listed
e-MitraCitizens and kiosk operatorsCertificates, bills and many department services0141-2922238, 0141-2922241

IFMSState employees (G2G)Treasury, pay and budget work0141-2924501

Certificates are the commonest reason to log in. The site’s guides to the domicile certificate, the income certificate and the caste certificate explain what each one proves before you apply. For utility bills, the portal’s FAQ points to the Bill Payments tab under the citizen apps.

Not every Rajasthan portal needs SSO. The free jamabandi copy on Apna Khata asks only for a name, mobile number and OTP. The Jan Soochna portal, where the state publishes scheme and beneficiary data, can be searched without logging in.

Updating Your Profile

Your profile holds the mobile number and email that RajSSO uses for recovery, so keep both current. The portal’s FAQ says plainly that an updated mobile and email are what let you recover a lost SSO ID or password.

Log in and open your profile from the dashboard to change these details. The exact screens sit behind the login, so this guide doesn’t name them. Remember the uniqueness rule: a mobile number already used in another SSO ID won’t be accepted in yours. If a change of name or date of birth is the problem, fix it at the source first, in Jan Aadhaar or in Aadhaar itself, since those records feed the profile.

Common Errors and Fixes

Most SSO problems are one of these.

  • “Invalid Captcha. Please try again.” The captcha is 6 digits and changes on every attempt. Refresh it and type the new one.
  • Account locked. Five failed logins lock it for 30 minutes. Wait, then use “I Forgot my Password” rather than guessing again.
  • SMS recovery gives no reply. Send it from the mobile registered in your SSO profile, and only if you have logged in since 7 September 2018.
  • OTP goes to the wrong phone. On the Jan Aadhaar route, the OTP goes to the number in Jan Aadhaar. Update the mobile in Jan Aadhaar, or accept the Head of Family’s mobile when asked.
  • “Mobile already registered.” That number sits in another SSO ID. Recover that ID instead of making a new one.
  • Office apps missing. You are in a citizen SSO ID. Government apps appear only in an employee ID made through the Govt. Employee tab.
  • Portal not loading at midday. RajSSO posts planned-maintenance notices on its login page; on 3 November 2026 one announced downtime from 1 PM to 2 PM. Try again after the window.

Helpdesk and Where to Complain

Start with the helpdesk of the app that failed, because RajSSO only handles the login. The portal’s Helpdesk Details list covers several hundred apps and runs on working days from 10 AM to 6 PM.

  • Login and SSO ID problems: the RajSSO helpdesk for your district. Jaipur’s is 0141-2928239, [email protected]; other districts follow the same pattern, such as Ajmer on 0141-2929201.
  • A service app: the number listed against that app in the table above.
  • A complaint about a department: Rajasthan Sampark on the toll-free 181.

The helpdesk list is long, so search it by district name or app name from the footer link. The list of districts in Rajasthan helps if your area has moved to one of the new districts, since several of them now have their own RajSSO helpdesk.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is SSO ID Rajasthan?

It’s a single username, called a Digital Identity, that opens Rajasthan government apps such as e-Mitra, Jan Aadhaar, recruitment and Rajasthan Sampark. You create it once at sso.rajasthan.gov.in and use one password for all of them.

How do I create an SSO ID in Rajasthan?

Open the registration page, keep the Citizen/ Udhyog tab and choose Jan Aadhaar or Google. On the Jan Aadhaar route you enter your Jan Aadhaar ID or enrolment number, verify with an OTP and set a password. State employees use the Govt. Employee tab and the SIPF option.

Can people from other states make a Rajasthan SSO ID?

Yes. The Jan Aadhaar option is only for residents of Rajasthan, but the Google option is marked for all others, so an applicant from another state can register with a Google account.

How can I find my SSO ID if I forgot it?

Click ‘I Forgot my Digital Identity (SSOID)’ on the login page and choose the method you registered with. Or send RJ SSO to 9223166166 from your registered mobile, which works if you have logged in at least once since 7 September 2018.

How do I reset my SSO ID password?

Use ‘I Forgot my Password’, enter your SSO ID and choose mobile or personal email to receive a new password. You can also send RJ SSO PASSWORD to 9223166166 from your registered mobile.

Why is my SSO ID locked?

The password policy locks an account after five failed login attempts in a row. The lock lasts 30 minutes unless the RajSSO helpdesk resets it, so wait and then reset the password instead of guessing again.

Is there any fee for making an SSO ID?

The portal shows no fee for creating an SSO ID. Charges arise only inside particular services, such as an e-Mitra service fee or an application fee for a recruitment.

What is the difference between a citizen SSO ID and a government SSO ID?

A citizen SSO ID opens only citizen apps, called G2C apps on the portal. A government SSO ID is made with the employee ID and opens both G2G office apps and G2C apps.

Can I use one mobile number for two SSO IDs?

No. The portal’s FAQ says an Aadhaar number, mobile number or email can be used in only one SSO ID, so each family member needs their own number or should recover the existing ID.

Tell Google you want more of this.
