About this pillar
What's covered
Internal Security is General Studies Paper III's final section — terrorism, insurgency, left-wing extremism, border management, cyber security, money laundering and the agencies that handle them. It is narrow, well-defined, and frequently left until it is too late.
Its advantage is that the syllabus is unusually specific, so the material is finite. Its difficulty is that answers need institutional accuracy: which force, which law, which jurisdiction, and where the civil-liberties objection sits. Security questions that ignore the rights trade-off read as one-sided, and the better answers state it plainly before concluding.
Forces, statutes, border and coastal management, and the technology dimension are all covered here.
