About this pillar

What's covered

General Studies is the spine of the Civil Services Examination — the whole of Prelims Paper I and four of the nine Mains papers that count towards your rank. This pillar gathers everything we publish across all of it in one place.
The difficulty of General Studies is not depth, it is breadth with structure. Nobody masters every topic; the candidates who score well have a working map of the syllabus, a reliable way to place a new development on that map, and enough written practice that recall happens under time pressure rather than after it.
Use this pillar as the wide view, and the paper-specific pillars when you want to work through one paper properly. Every entry here carries its syllabus mapping, so you can always see which paper a piece belongs to.
